Service members and veterans transitioning from deployment to
higher education bring with them several assets including: greater
maturity, leadership experience, worldviews shaped by cross-cultural experiences, and strong commitment to completing the mission. However, many veterans acquire these assets at great personal expense including both visible and invisible disabilities, such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Even for those who do not have the added challenge of managing an acquired disability, the transitions to college life possess a significant challenge to college success.
